This is neat - clearly there is a specific need here, but I think that Flotillas seeking to operate much as possible like a Coast Guard Station is wise both operationally and from a force readiness standpoint.
This blog is about participation in a most amazing organization - the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Some 30,000 strong, these men & women on a volunteer basis, contribute millions of man-hours of time in the areas of recreational boating safety, patrols and search & rescue, and in direct support of the US Coast Guard.
I am proud to be a small part of this organization and seek to maximize the contribution it makes to the Coast Guard, to our community, and to our Nation.
